When I got the chance to illustrate the New York Series scratch-off tickets for the New York Lottery, I knew I wanted to do something totally different and something that actually felt like New York. Instead of the usual loud, glittery tickets, I went for detailed black and white drawings that celebrate the little things that make this state so special, from the brownstones around the Brooklyn Bridge to the natural scenery of the Adirondacks. Each ticket became its own mini love note to a corner of New York: the city, the lakes, the mountains, the small towns.
